The letter delivered to former Dhaka University vice-chancellor AK Azad Chowdhury at his house in Dhanmondi on Tuesday also listed six other people

Current VC AAMS Arefin Siddique received a similar threat by post two weeks ago.

The names of 10 people, including Prime Minister’s Adviser HT Imam, were in that letter.

The letter sent on Tuesday was sent by Ansarullah Bangla Team-13.

The previous one was sent by ‘Alkaida (sic) – Ansarullah Bangla Team:13’. No one linked to the threat has been identified yet.

Dhaka University Acting Proctor Amzad Ali told bdnews24.com that Chowdhury informed him about the receipt of the letter at noon.

Ali’s name is on the list, too.

The others listed in the letter include Jahurul Haque Hall Provost Delwar Hossain, Arts Faculty Dean Akhtaruzzaman and actor Shomi Kaiser.
Ali could not recognise Abu Musa M Masuduzzaman Zakaria, the other person listed in the letter.
Ali said, “We live in the Dhaka University area. We are much safer here. But Azad sir lives in Dhanmondi.
“We requested the police to strengthen security in the area he lives,” he said.
Referring to the letter, Dhanmondi Police Station OC Mohammad Noor-e-Azam Mia said the seven were ‘secondary target’.
He said police were trying to catch those who issued the threat and ensuring security for those who received it.
The government banned Ansarullah Bangla Team after the killings of bloggers Avijit Roy on Dhaka University campus in February, Oyasiqur Rahman Babu at Tejgaon in March and Ananta Bijoy Das in Sylhet in May.
