The case against OC Humayun Kabir and SI Majibar Rahman was filed with Chittagong Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-2 on Wednesday.

Plaintiff’s lawyer Ershadur Rahman Ritu said the police officials were also sued for reportedly tearing up the first complaint filed by the mother.

It was also alleged in the case that they forced the family to file a false case accusing the victim’s 14-year-old brother, showing him to be 18 years old.

Hearing a writ petition on Monday, the High Court ordered Rangunia Police to arrest local resident Shah Alam and other accused of the rape.

The court also issued a rule asking why police’s refusal to register the complaint should not be deemed illegal and why a directive should not be issued to take action against Alam and other accused.

Alam was arrested from Chittagong city’s Andarkilla later on Wednesday night, Additional Superintendent of Police Mostafizur Rahman said.

The victim’s brother is now at National Juvenile Development Centre in Gazipur.

Chittagong’s Senior Magistrate Qudrat-e-Elahi’s court rejected a petition seeking his bail on Wednesday.

Lawyer Ritu said the tribunal will hear the case against the OC and SI on Thursday.

According to the case, the mother of the victim filed a complaint against Alam over the rape of the girl on May 8.

Locals caught Alam and handed him over to police who released him later.

The 12-year-old girl used to work as a maid at the residence of Alam.

He allegedly made the girl pregnant and then forced her to go for abortion.

OC Kabir and SI Rahman took away the document on the abortion from her mother and tore up the complaint against Alam, the lawyer alleged.

Another case was filed later accusing the brother of the victim. The mother was allegedly forced to sign the case paper.

The mother told bdnews24.com: “SI Majibar Rahman told us if I signed the paper, my daughter and son would be released within a week.”

“He said they took the responsibility to ensure a beautiful future for us but then arrested my son,” she added.
