Missing labourer’s body found in a lake in Bagerhat

Police have recovered a body of a daily wage labourer who had been missing for a few days.

Bagerhat Model Station’s OC Md Tozammel Haque said locals informed the police after they found the body floating in the Baliadanga Lake near Fakirhat Upazila.

The deceased Nur Islam Baksh, 50, was missing since May 7.

“ A look at the body suggests the person died 2-3 days back. Without post mortem we cannot declare it was a murder.”

Quoting the family OC Tozammel told bdnews24.com labourer Nur Islam was hired to work on a bettle leaf field by Bazlu Chakladar, who owns it, on May 5.

Two days later when Bazlu found him missing, he informed Nur’s family.

Later Nur’s body was found in the lake which is quite far off from Bazlu’s house.

The body has been sent to the Bagerhat Sadar Hospital morgue.
