President leaves for Singapore for treatment after he suffers chest pain

President Md Abdul Hamid has left for Singapore for treatment after he complained of severe chest pain.

He left Dhaka in a regular Singapore Airlines flight at 11:55pm on Wednesday.

The president’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim earlier in the afternoon told bdnews24.com: “His physician advised him to go to Singapore in the wake of his severe chest pain.”

Hamid had gone to Dhaka’s Combined Military Hospital on Apr 26 with similar ailment and was told to go to Singapore, he said.

The president was scheduled to return on May 4.

The 72-year old had gone to the UK for eye and health check-up last month and returned home after eight days.
