Terming it as an attack on freedom of thought, the lawmaker demanded a statement from the state minister for home during the parliament session on Sunday.

“How was Avijit Roy murdered in Dhaka University that is believed to have a three-tier security of the law enforcing agencies,” the Jhenaidah MP said.

“…they literally vanished, its astonishing. Where is our security then? If extremists can breach the reach of law in such manner,  then such hateful killings will go on and our future will be in darkness.”

He pulled up the law enforcers for ‘negligence’ and ‘slackness’ while on duty.

Unidentified assailants hacked the 42-year Bangladeshi-American to death and seriously injured his blogger wife Rafida Ahmed Bonya on Dhaka University campus on Feb 26.

He has been facing threats from Islamist radicals for his secular blogging.
