Three of the bodies were found at Kaziparha and another at Technical area of Mirpur in the early hours of Monday.

Sub-Inspector Mizanur Rahman of Mirpur Model Police Station said, “Locals told us that the men were trying to unleash violence. They were beaten to death.”

The men were taken to the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) around 2am but doctors said they were brought dead, DMCH Police Outpost OC Masudur Rahman said.

He said the bodies had bullet wounds.

When asked why there were bullet wounds when the men had been lynched, Mirpur police SI Rahman said he did not know.

The gruesome discovery was made while the BNP-led alliance is enforcing a violent transport blockade across Bangladesh that has left about 100 people dead since Jan 5.

The government, police and RAB have separately announced cash rewards for nabbing saboteurs.
