Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Muhammad Anwar Sadat gave the order to the Kotwali police on Sunday after hearing a complaint filed by lawyer Shahjalal Kibria.

The English-language daily’s Chief News Editor Syed Ashfaqul Haque and Chief Photographer Sheikh Enamul Haque are the other defendants.

Former chief of Dhaka Bar Association Kazi Nazibullah Hiru said the daily published the photo of a poster of the banned Islamist outfit on Feb 11, with the caption - ‘Fanatics raise their ugly head again’.

The poster appealed to all to get in touch with army officers and organise them against the government to establish an Islamic state, he said.

The plaintiff maintained the publicising of the photo posed a threat and instigated a violation of peace, he added.
