Kamal Hossain, 35, succumbed to his injuries at Dhaka Medical College and Hospitals (DMCH) around 4am on Tuesday, said the hospital's police outpost Inspector Mozammel Haque.

Bombs were hurled at Hossain's truck on Monday evening at Lakhsmipur town during the BNP-sponsored countrywide blockade and shutdown.

The attack also left two others injured, according to local police.

The injured were rushed to the Lakhsmipur Sadar Hospital. Hossain was shifted to the DMCH the same night as his condition worsened.

Over 50 people have died in arson and bomb attack at vehicles across Bangladesh since Jan 5, when BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia called an indefinite transport blockade.

Seven people were burnt alive when petrol bombs were hurled at a bus on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway early morning Tuesday.
