The Namaz-e-Janaza was held at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque after Juma prayer on Friday.

Apart from the leaders and activists of the ruling 14-Party Alliance, which organised it, ordinary people joined the prayer conducted by national mosque Khatib Maulana Salahuddin.

Rows of the prayer attendees stretched out to Bangabandhu Square from Baitul Mukarram’s south gate.

BNP chief Khaleda Zia called the non-stop blockade after failing to come out of her office, due to police obstruction, to attend a party programme marking the first anniversary of the general elections on Jan 5.
At least 39 people died, mostly in arson, in violence during the blockade.
Fourteen-Party Alliance Convener Mohammed Nasim, also the health minister, Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed, JaSaD President and Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu, Workers Party President and Civil Aviation Minister Rashed Khan Menon, Food Minister Qamrul Islam and Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu, among others, joined the prayer.
