“Steps have been taken to increase the collection of the Liberation War records,” the minister has said.

He was speaking at an event organised by the Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre (IGCC) on Thursday.

Valiant freedom fighter Major (Retd) ATM Hamidul Hossain Tariq narrated the stories of the struggle at the event.
The IGCC organised the event as part of its monthly guest lecture series that began in May last year.
Born in 1951, Tariq joined the Liberation War at the age of 19 when he was a student.
He was the commander of a camp under Sector 7 and was decorated with the gallantry award - Bir Bikrom.
In his talk, he focused on the diplomatic aspects of the 1971 Liberation War.
He highlighted how the then government in-exile garnered global support in favour of Bangladesh, despite the US “all-out efforts” against it.
He also mentioned how India helped Bangladesh in 1971.
