Frequent incidents of arson and bomb-attack on vehicles are being reported almost everyday across the country since the BNP-sponsored blockade started from Jan 5.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia told a briefing on Monday that they will make sure identities of citizens helping them will be secret.

Citizens who will nab those trying to commit arson red-handed will get cash reward of Tk 100,000 .

A reward of Tk 50,000 is earmarked for information leading to the arrest of those caught while hurling petrol bombs or handmade bombs.

Any information about bomb-making dens will fetch a reward of Tk 25,000, according to the DMP.
"I would request citizens to resist this ongoing violence and help the police," said the DMP chief.
He added police will distribute leaflets across the capital on the rewards.
At least 34 people have died since Jan 5, when Khaleda Zia announced an indefinite blockade of roads, rail and waterways.
On Jan 21, Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu said that the government will give Tk 100,000 reward for those helping to catch troublemakers.
Two days later, the RAB also announced cash rewards between Tk 10,000 and Tk 100,000.
