He went to the Bangabhaban on Thursday afternoon with Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) Vice-Chancellor Maj Gen Sheikh Mamun Khaled.
The president's Press Secretary Ehsanul Karim said Hamid was invited to attend the second convocation of the BUP slated for Feb 1.
"The army chief informed the president that five medical colleges set up by the Bangladesh Army had begun functioning. Each college has admitted 50 students," Karim said.
President Hamid lauded the army for promoting time-oriented education.
Nothing else was discussed in the meeting, an official present there but who was unwilling to be named, said.
