Friday night's incident at the town's Shaheed Shahidullah Kaiser Road left Executive Magistrate Abdul Qadir Mia and the wife of Magistrate Rashedur Rahman, Sayeeda Afreen Mustari, injured.

They were initially rushed to a local clinic but later Mia was shifted to Chittagong Medical College and Hospital, Feni's Additional Deputy Commissioner Abul Hashem said.

He said executive magistrates Mia, Shihab Uddin, Rashedur Rahman and his wife Mustari were on their way to the 'Magistrate Colony'. They were scheduled to join the BGB on the highway after dropping Mustari.

"Blockade campaigners ambushed the vehicle in Jahiria Masjid area around 9pm. They hurled an improvised bomb and forced the vehicle to stop before going on the rampage," Hashem added.

Feni's Additional Police Commissioner Md Saiful Haq said security had been bolstered and that they were trying to arrest the attackers.

Incidents of arson attacks and vandalism have been reported from across Bangladesh after BNP chief Khaleda Zia called a nonstop transport blockade on Jan 5.
