Abdur Razzak, convenor of the district's Muktijoddha Dal, announced the strike on Saturday at a rally of 'Amra Sylhetbashi' (we are Sylhet residents) at Court Point area.

Police on Thursday filed a supplementary chargesheet over Kibria's murder naming 11 new persons including Chowdhury and BNP chief Khaleda's former political secretary Harris Chowdhury.

Razzak alleged naming Chowdhury in the chargesheet was part of a 'conspiracy'.

Earlier, 'Amra Sylhetbashi' took out a procession demanding withdrawal of Chowdhury's name from the chargesheet.

Razzak said, "We'll enforce a shutdown from 6am to 6pm Monday protesting it.

"Chowdhury's party BNP, too, will observe a general strike on the day and will be out on the streets."
