Padma Bridge materials reach Mawa site
Three consignments of equipment for building the main structure of Padma Bridge have arrived at the construction site at Mawa in Munshiganj.

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader told reporters at his office in Dhaka on Sunday one more consignment was on way to the site.
The government on June 2 awarded China Major Bridge Engineering Co Ltd the job of constructing the bridge’s main structure at Tk 121 billion.
The minister claimed that people travelling during the recent Eid-ul-Azha festival did not have to face ‘that much trouble’ on their way.
“Thanks to necessary preparations and coordination, the journeys this year haven’t been that much troublesome. We haven’t received that much information about any road-induced troubles,” he said.
Quader said 96 people died in road mishaps during the last Eid-ul-Fitr and 26 people were killed while going to their country homes during the Eid-ul-Azha.
He held electric tri-wheelers and other battery-run vehicles responsible for increased number of road crashes.
The minister urged the people not to use battery-run vehicles.
