Five activists of the party's student front were arrested following the clash at the city's Rajarhata area, said police.

Boyalia Police Station OC Abdus Sobhan said that the incident happened around 8.30 am in front of the Rajarhata Loknath School.

Jamaat supporters took out a procession from the Sonadighi Moni Chattar area demanding acquittal of their senior leader and war crimes convict Delwar Hossain Sayedee.

The protestors were holding a rally in front of the Loknath School.
The clash broke out when the police arrived and Jamaat supporters started to hurl stones at them. Police opened blank-fire and lobbed tear gas shells to disperse the protestors.
OC Sobhan said two police constables were hurt during the clash and five Islami Chhatra Shibir activists were arrested later on from the spot.
Shibir is the student affiliate of the Jamaat-e-Islami.
