This follows two previous phases and will be carried out in metropolitan areas.

Volunteers will go door to door to collect the data for adding new voters, making transfers, corrections and deletion of list of voters who have passed away.

Those who turned 18 in January, 2014 as well as those who could not be listed before can be registered as voters.

Voters will be photographed and their finger prints scanned.

Several circulars have been published in the media intimating those eligible for enrollment as voters.

Those who try to get enrolled more than once will be faced with tough punishment, Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmed told bdnews24.com.

A form can be filled and submitted for making corrections.

He urged the people to assist the volunteers in their work.

Those who fail to meet up with volunteers can come and enrol at registration centres, said the CEC.

The first phase of the update began in coastal and marshy areas on May 15 before the onset of the rains; followed by townships in the second phase. More than 400 Upazilas have been covered.

Over 60,000 people were to be involved in the three-stage exercise expected to cost overall Tk 590 million.

The EC hopes to complete the updating of the rolls by November and said a draft list will be published beginning of the next year.
