Ramna Police Station Inspector Md Selim Miya presented suspects 'Faruk' and 'Sohel' before the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Erfan Ullah on Saturday afternoon and sought nine-day remand.

Lawyers of the accused pleaded for their bail.

Police said they had prima facie evidence to link the duo to the murder. The magistrate rejected the bail pleas and granted five days remand.

Police nabbed the suspects from Moghbazar area in the morning.

Both are named in the case filed by the victims' relatives. Police said they were accomplices of the prime suspect Kala Babu.

The two were there during the shooting, police told bdnews24.com.

On Thursday night, a group of unknown assailants entered a house in Sonalibagh and shot dead Ranu, 30, and her tenants, ‘Munna’, 22, and ‘Belal’, 20.

Ranu’s 18-year old brother ‘Hridoy’ was wounded and is now being treated at the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital.

The family immediately blamed local "criminal" Kala Babu, saying he had been demanding money for some time.

A case was lodged at Ramna Police Station on Friday night by Shamim alias Kala Chan, the brother of Ranu.

It accused 15 people for the killing. Among the accused are Kala Babu, Faisal Ahmed Rony, 'Shahdat', 'Raju', 'Topu', 'Sohel', 'Arif', 'Maruf', 'Billal', 'Thandu', 'Siraj', 'Picchi Rony' and 'Jony'.

According to the case details, Kala Babu had been trying to extort money from Kala Chan following a dispute over possession of a land.
