President Md Abdul Hamid is in London for a medical check-up, but the 70-year-old who is known for his sense of humour and no-nonsense approach to work wouldn’t mind having a bit of fun too.

And who would say ‘no’ to a meal at London's iconic South Asian restaurant 'The Red Fort'.

A spokesperson for the restaurant, where frequent diners include former British Prime Minister Tony Blair and the likes, told bdnews24.com that the booking was for 30 people for the party on Thursday night.

So apparently almost everyone on Hamid's 34-strong entourage had a huge meal at someone's expense.

The total amount was 2,227.50 pounds, but it was not sure who picked up the bill.

The Red Fort chefs came up with a 13-course special menu for the Bangladeshi President.

Eventually a total of 44 turned up, one executive said, “and the meal cost 45 pounds per person.”

“The President left happy,” said one of those who served the guests.
