"Police found a body, hands and legs tied, beside the road of Char Kaona village at Pakundia Upazila at 5:30 am Thursday morning,” Pakundia Police station OC Zakir Rabbani said.

The body has been sent to the Kishoreganj Sadar Hospital for autopsy.

The dead has been identified as Tutul, 10, son of Kamal Uddin Babu, a resident of Jangalia union's Char Kaona village.

He was a 4th grader at the Char Kaona Abdul Awal Memorial Kinder Garten.

So far, police have detained four people in connection with the crime.

"On August 12, Tutul was out playing with his friends when he went missing. After dusk, parents looked for him everywhere to no avail. Around 11 am, his mother got a call from an anonymous person, who demanded Tk 1 million as ransom for Tutul’s release,” the OC said.

She informed police, who conducted several raids at various places on Tuesday night and detained Dulal, Shipon, Dalim and Shohag.

Information police gathered from them led them to Tutul's body.

"Prima facie, it seems the detained killed the abducted student," police added.
