Palestinians in Gaza observed Eid-ul-Fitr on Monday as death toll from an all-out offensive by Israel went over 1,000.

Khaleda went to the Palestinian embassy in Dhaka to offer her sympathy on Monday.

She handed Ambassador Shaher Mohammad a cheque for Tk 500,000 for the victims in Gaza.

The former prime minister reached the embassy in Baridhara around 5:15pm and had a meeting of over half an hour with the ambassador.

Ambassador Mohammad expressed his gratitude to Khaleda for her sympathy.

He told reporters that the people of Bangladesh had always given their full support during the plight of the Palestinian people and for their lawful rights.

"We are grateful to all of you," he said.

BNP Vice Chairman Shamser Mubin Chowdhury said Khaleda had expressed her grief at the death of Palestinians, including women and children, in the Israeli attacks in Gaza.

"She has written a letter to the Palestinian authorities offering her solidarity," he said.

In the letter the BNP chairperson has also asserted her support for a free Palestine.

Senior leaders of the party accompanied her to the meeting.
