He fixed Aug 12 as the hearing date on Thursday.

Six people accused in the case are driver Humayun Kabir, Habib Howlader, Sabuj Khan, Belal Hossain, Raju Munshi, and Md Russel.

State prosecutor Asaduzzaman Khan Rachi said, "Russel is on the run and Sabuj Khan is out on bail."

Before the charges were formed, all the accused, except Russel, claimed innocence and sought a fair trial. Habib Howlader, Billal Hossain and Humayun Kabir had also given their confessional statements.

The charge-sheet against the six was framed under Clause 396 of the Bangladesh Penal Code for committing robbery and murder.

Photojournalist Aftab was murdered in his Rampura house on December 25, 2013. The following day, his brother-in-law Monower Ahmed Sagar filed a case against some unknown people.

RAB detained five persons while investigations were on. The investigators claimed Aftab had been murdered as he resisted a robbery attempt.

RAB-3 SI Md Ashik Iqbal produced the charge-sheet against the six accused on March 24 this year.
