1 killed, MP injured in Sirajganj collision

An elderly housemaid travelling with Bogra-7 MP Altaf Hossain was killed when a bus rammed into their microbus at Sirajganj.

Hossain of Jatiya Party, his wife Hasna Banu, son ‘Shakil’, household worker ‘Habiba’ and the van’s driver Ohedul Islam were injured in the collision.
The driver of the bus lost control and rammed into the microbus at the western connector of Bangabandhu Bridge at 2pm Wednesday, said Pashchimpar Police OC TM Aminul Islam told bdnews24.com.
The deceased Aina Begum was travelling to Bogra with the MP’s family.

“Altaf Hossain has suffered a wound on the left side of his head. His left arm has also been fractured,” said Subrata Saha, a doctor at the emergency unit.

His son Shakil and driver Ohedul are critically injured, he said.

“The MP and the others were headed to Bogra when a Dhaka-bound Surma Enterprise bus had a head-on collision with their microbus at Koddar Mor. The driver lost control of the bus as a wheel on the vehicle exploded,” said OC Aminul.

Aina Begum died on the spot.
