The envoy has been instructed to return as he was not being able to operate the mission ‘properly’, according to Foreign Secretary Md Shahidul Haque.

“Azam Sarker has been ordered to return Bangladesh as soon as possible,” he told bdnews24.com on Saturday.

Asked what prompted the decision, Haque said, “He is being recalled as he was not running the mission properly.”
He, however, declined comment on the recent reports published on Bangladeshi as well Lebanese media about Sarkar’s return.
Sarker, a career diplomat of the 1986 batch of BCS Foreign Service Cadre, joined the Lebanon mission from Sweden where he served as Bangladesh ambassador.
He has earlier served in Paris, Kathmandu and Cairo.
