10 die in Jessore road crash

Ten passengers, including a woman, were killed when their bus crashed into a tree at Jessore’s Jhikargacha.

Police said twenty others were injured in the accident at Godkhali on Jessore-Benapole road at 6am Tuesday.

The death toll may rise, said Jhikargacha OC Md Mosharraf.

The passengers were travelling in a Shohagh Paribahan bus that was heading from Dhaka to Benapole, he said.

Five of the deceased have been identified. They are, Prasanjit Paul, 25 hailing from Shariyatpur, Jamal Hossain, Bidyut Ghose, Ranjit Paul and 'Salam' from Dhaka.

Six bodies have been kept at the Jhikargacha Police Station, one at the Jhikargacha Health Complex while three bodies are at the Jessore government hospital.

The driver lost control and the bus crashed into a tree, the OC told bdnews24.com quoting witnesses.
A fire service rescue team is working on the site, he said.
The injured have been taken to the Upazila health centre.
