11 BGB men injured in explosion

Eleven personnel of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have been injured in an explosion while they were disposing of drugs in Cox’s Bazar.

The explosion occurred on the ground of 17 BGB Battalion Office on Sunday afternoon.

The injured were admitted to the Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital, said resident physician Dr Puchhnu.

State Minister for Home Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, who was there to supervise the disposal, visited the injured BGB men around 2:30pm, said bdnews24.com Cox’s Bazar correspondent Shankar Barua.

A BGB member, on condition of anonymity, said the drugs seized by the border guards were to be disposed of in presence of the state minister and BGB director general.

The explosion occurred while an oven was started to burn Yaba tablets, he said.
