The protesters have not confirmed this.

BIRDEM DG Prof Dr Nazmun Nahar told bdnews24.com on Wednesday evening immediately after the police removed an additional SP in Dhaka that the strike was now over.

“Hospital services are back in full swing,” she said.

In the afternoon, police spokesperson AKM Qamrul Ahsan told bdnews24.com that Dhaka district Additional Superintendent of Police ABM Masud Hossain had been removed from his position over an alleged assault on doctors at BIRDEM Hospital.

The doctors who called the strike have so far been unavailable for comment.

The doctors of the 600-bed hospital in Dhaka went into strike on Tuesday, stopping all services save the ICU, the CCU and the emergency room.

At least three to four thousand patients are treated in BIRDEM every day in the outdoor section alone.
