Supporters of renegade AL candidate Abdul Jalil had blocked the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway and agitated for over three hours on Friday after he was detained allegedly by RAB.

They moved away after Jalil was released.

On Saturday, supporters of AL's official candidate Iqbal Hossain Sabuj and those of Jalil clashed leaving at least 50 person injured.

Bullets were fired, vehicles were damaged and many shops were torched during the clashes.

Al Amin, a supporter of Jalil, was hit by bullets.

His brother claims Amin was hit by bullets fired by Sabuj's supporters.

Sreepur police station Sub-Inspector Md Kabir Hossain had filed a case over Saturday’s clashes.

OC Amir Hossain said police had detained 22 men, two of whom had allegedly used firearms during Saturday’s clashes.

The court on Sunday ordered them to prison.
