UZ poll campaign camp torched

The campaign camp of aspirant Bijon Kumar Chand of Jamalpur Sadar Upazila, in Muslimabad, Jamalpur district town, was torched on Wednesday night.

The miscreants are yet to be tracked down.

The election to the Sadar Upazila is slated for February 19.

Jamalpur Sadar police went to the spot soon after the incident.

Chand told bdnews24.com that he suspected his contender to have done the mischief.
He believes his rival is facing certain defeat and attacked the camp to create panic among the voters.
He urged the law enforcing agencies to be more vigilant and demanded punishment for the offenders.
Officer-in-Charge of the Jamalpur Sadar Police Station Mujibur Rahman Majumder told bdnews24.com that the election campaign camp was partly damaged by the fire.
No case has been filed in this connection.
