Explosions in Chittagong AL rally

Several handmade bombs have been lobbed near an Awami League rally in Chittagong.

Nobody was injured in the explosions at Andarkilla around 1:30pm on Thursday, police said.

Chittagong metropolitan Awami League General Secretary AJM Nasir Uddin told bdnews24.com a group of Islami Chhatra Shibir activists hurled handmade bombs near the rally minutes after the Supreme Court rejected the review petition of Jamaat-e-Islami leader Abdul Quader Molla.

The Awami League activists chased them away.

The Shibir activists also set fire to an ambulance on Sirajuddoula Road.

Nobody has been detained so far, CMP Kotwali zone Assistant Commissioner Mirza Sayem Mahmud said.

No major trouble was reported from the port city on the sixth day of the third Opposition-enforced blockade.

The BNP activists held a rally in front of the party’s Nasiman Bhaban office in the morning.

The blockade supporters exploded several handmade bombs near RAB office in Chandgaon around 10:15am, Chandgaon Police Station OC Adur Rauf said.
