Gulshan police OC Rafiqul Islam said Milki was shot in the head around 2:30am Tuesday in front of the Shoppers World at Gulshan road number 123.

A youth came and shot him through the head point blank after he got down of his car, Islam said quoting witnesses.

Then the youth fled in a motorcycle.

Doctors declared Milki dead after he was rushed to a nearby hospital.

Later the dead body was sent to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital for autopsy.

Meanwhile, leaders and activists of Awami League and Juba League rushed to the hospital.
But they say they are in the dark over the motives that led to the murder.
Police suspect that the assassin was following the Juba League Organising Secretary on the motorcycle.
RAB arrested another leader of Juba League Dhaka Metropolitan (south) unit, Jahid Siddiqui Tarek with injuries from a hospital in the capital after Milki was shot, RAB’s intelligence chief Ziaul Ahsan told bdnews24.com.
In another incident, leather businessman Mohammad Jasim, 50, was shot dead at Hajaribagh around 8pm Monday.
Jasim was a leader of the BNP unit there and very close to former opposition MP Nasiruddin Ahmed Pintu, locals said.
