PM cooks on son’s birthday

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina herself prepared ‘pulao’ for the birthday treat of her only son, Sajeeb Ahmed Wazed, better known by his nickname, Joy.

Joy, who lives in the USA celebrated his birthday on Saturday in a private ceremony at his mother’s official residence, Ganabhaban.

A picture of Sheikh Hasina uploaded on Joy’s Facebook profile shows the Prime Minister cooking in the kitchen.

She is seen holding a wooden spoon stirring chicken with one hand and holding the pot with the other.

The Prime Minister had sported an apron over her white saree and tied her hair in a bun.

The photo caption by Joy read, “A special treat for everyone. The Prime Minister cooking chicken pulao for me! Her pulao is really the best I have ever tasted."

Joy, who turned 42 on Saturday, celebrated his birthday with mother Sheikh Hasina, wife Kristine, daughter Sophia and sister Saima Hossain Putul.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina managed to cook a birthday meal for her son and family on Saturday despite her busy schedule, Ganabhaban sources say. However, she could not be at Ganabhaban for Iftar.

She had joined the Iftar program arranged by the Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists and Dhaka Union of Journalists at the National Press Club.

Sajeeb Ahmed Wazed Joy was born in 1971 in Dhaka during the Liberation War. The nation’s founder Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman named him after the nation won victory.

The Prime Minister’s son opened his official facebook page on his birthday. He thanked everyone there through a post.

Joy said it is truly magnificent to spend ones birthday in the country with family and friends.

He said he is surrounded by his wife, daughter and sister but is still missing aunt Sheikh Rehana and his cousins.
