A Joint Rivers Commission (JRC) meeting between Bangladesh and India scheduled for June 18 and 19 has been postponed.
Spokesperson of the Indian High Commission in Dhaka Sujit Ghosh told bdnews24.com that Indian Water Resources Minister Harish Rawat wrote a letter to his counterpart in Dhaka in this regard.
He said “due to pressing domestic engagement the minister of water resources had to postpone his Dhaka visit”.

Fresh dates for the JRC would be worked out through mutual consultations, he said quoting the letter.

This would have been the 38th meeting to discuss unresolved issues like sharing of Teesta waters and proposed Tipaimukh dam.
