University’s Proctor Sohel Ahmed said the law keepers conducted the search following tension between inmates of Shaheed Rafiq-Jabbar Hall and Maulana Bhasani Hall on Sunday night.
Ashulia police OC Md Badrul Alam told bdnews24.com that a pistol, bullets, machetes and sticks were recovered during the raid. Three students were detained for allegedly possessing arms.
Authorities identified them as Bhasani Hall residents Morshedur Rahman, a student of the Department of English of 38th batch, Emon Ahmed, another 38th batch student of the Geography Department and Rafiq-Jabbar Hall’s Abdul Majid, a 40th batch student of the Accounting Department.
They have identified themselves as activists of pro-government Bangladesh Chhatra League.
University unit Chhatra League President Mahmudur Rahman told bdnews24.com that if found guilty, the organisation would take action against them.
