President flies to Singapore for treatment

President Mohammad Zillur Rahman was flown to Singapore on Sunday night for better treatment for the respiratory complications he has developed.

President’s Press Secretary AKM Nesar Uddin Bhuiyan told bdnews24.com the air ambulance carrying the President left the Shahjalal International Airport at 10pm.
On Saturday night, Rahman was admitted at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in the capital with breathing problems.
Earlier on Sunday, his Military Secretary Maj Gen Kazi Fakhruddin Ahmed told bdnews24.com that he will leave Dhaka for Singapore at 10pm.
“The President was taken to CMH last night [Saturday night] as he was suffering respiratory complications," he said.
Rahman, 84, had taken office as the 19th President of Bangladesh in 2009.
He has been hospitalised several times due to poor health. He also had a medical check-up in the United Kingdom in December last year.
