14 additional launches from Chandpur

Fourteen more launches have been attached with the regular launches in Chandpur to Dhaka and the southern district routes, to ensure better services during the Eid-ul-Fitr.

Chandpur, Sep 3 (bdnews24.com) – Fourteen more launches have been attached with the regular launches in Chandpur to Dhaka and the southern district routes, to ensure better services during the Eid-ul-Fitr.
The additional launches will be put into operations from Sep 6 to Sep 17.
Bangladesh Inland Water Authority (BIWTA) has said that at present a total of 45 launches have been plying in 15 routes, including – Chandpur to Dhaka, Narayanganj, Barguna, Rangabali, Char Bhairabi, Kalaia, Bhandaria, Muladi, Madaripur, Haturia, Surressor and Wapda.
On the occasion of Eid, additional two launches will put into service along with the seven regular launches on the Chandpur-Dhaka route, an additional four launches on the Chandpur-Narayanganj route with 11 regular launches, and additional launch will be added with the two regular ones on the Chandpur-Char Bhairabi route.
Moreover, an additional seven launches will be put into service on the Chandpur-Barguna and Chandpur-Barisal routes.
BIWTA Chandpur unit deputy director Mohammad Nur Hossain told bdnews24.com that the launches will put into service from Sep 6 to Sep 17 "in the interest of the passengers during the Eid."
Moreover, different other steps have also been taken, at the meeting of the district's law and order committee on Friday, to ensure passenger services during the Eid.
A seven-member committee comprising of the deputy commissioner, district police superintendent, port and transport officer, TNT Preservation Directing Department, Engineering Department, Maritime Transportation Department, and a representative from the launch owners was formed in this regard.
