Chittagong, Feb 9 (BDNEWS) - Three persons, including a housewife, have been killed in separate incidents at Patiya upazila of the district.
Belayet Hossain, an elderly man of Kagajipara, was allegedly murdered by one youth at 9am Thursday for being failed to get marry Sahana, granddaughter of the dead.
Police arrested alleged killer Ahmed Nabi, a grocer in the locality.
In another incident Bilkis Akhter (27), a housewife of village Haidgaon, committed suicide in the small hours of Thursday allegedly due to torture by members of her in laws family.
Police recovered the body of the housewife and sent for autopsy.
Her husband is a Middle East expatriate.
Meanwhile, a marauding elephant stamped Shah Alam (32) to death while he was wandering with his friends at Srimai village Wednesday night.
Shah Alam was an employee of BGC Trust run medical college.
Separate cases were filed with Patiya police station.
