Styled “My Daughter is Precious” by Kaavya Rajesh and Rajesh Ramakrishnan, the exhibition at the Le Meridian Hotel is aimed at spreading the message that girls also deserve to be loved and cherished.

The High Commission of India in Dhaka, Standard Chartered Bank and Le Meridien Hotel are co-organising the exhibition.

High Commissioner Harsh Vardhan Shringla opened the show on Friday, which will run through to Oct 29.

The exhibition, curated by Saud Al Faisal, showcases photographs taken by 15 years old Kavya and her father Rajesh.

Each photograph features a father and a daughter from various parts of India and Bangladesh, the High Commission said.

Kaavya and Rajesh are partnering with a Bangladesh-based NGO, Gana Unnayan Kendra, GUK, to raise money for the education of the girl child through this exhibition.

They are focusing on the lower socio-economic areas in society, where educating the girl child is a greater challenge than it is in other areas.
