“It’s surely a great job to bind the Bangabandhu’s political biography in a small book,” Finance Minister AMA Muhith said at the function on Saturday.

Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor thanked the author for giving the young English language readers of the country the option to know about Bangabandhu’s ‘epic’ political life.

“Many at home and abroad want to know about Bangabandhu,” he said.

Dhaka University Professor Emeritus Anisuzzaman said the number of literary works on Bangabandhu was ‘huge’, but Badrul Ahsan’s book was ‘worth mentioning’ as a political biography.

“The author has presented Bangabandhu’s political life and different sides of his character in brevity,” he said.

Public Administration Secretary Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury, politician-researcher Nooh Ul Alam Lenin, National Museum Director General Faizul Latif Chowdhury and author Selina Hossain also spoke at the programme.

Through long years spent in prison, Sheikh Mujib, burnished his political beliefs and credentials and eventually emerged as the single most significant spokesman for Bengali rights in erstwhile East Pakistan.

He led the nation to freedom from Pakistan in 1971 through the War of Liberation.

The biography of Sheikh Mujib by Badrul Ahsan portrays the great leader’s transformation to Bangabandhu or  friend of Bengal.

The price of the book published by Niyogi Books has been fixed at Tk 1,190 and it is available at Pathak Shamabesh.
