Saudi Arabia has launched a “package visa” initiative for seven countries, including Bangladesh, that allow travellers to obtain a tourist visa through a single, integrated travel package, reports Gulf News.
“The programme aims to simplify the visitor journey by combining flights, accommodation and electronic visa services into one booking process,” the UAE-based English daily said.
The Saudi Ministry of Tourism says the package is currently also available to travellers from Jordan, Egypt, India, Pakistan, Indonesia, and Mexico.
The initiative allows tourists to arrange flights, book licenced hotel accommodation, and secure an e-visa through approved travel providers. As a result, they will not need to apply for a tourist visa separately.
The package does not include Umrah arrangements or services in Makkah and Madinah. However, visa holders can travel anywhere in the kingdom, including both holy cities, upon their arrival
Saudi Gazette, a Jeddah-based English daily, says that e-visas will be issued within 48 hours of completing the purchase of an approved travel package, eliminating the need for a standalone visa application or a visit to a Saudi embassy.
Travellers must buy the approved package through an authorised travel agency, complete a digital payment, and receive their visa, travel insurance, and travel documents by mail. Currently two accredited providers – Reserval and Almosafer – are offering the service.
Visitors will get a single-entry tourist visa that is valid for up to three months in the kingdom, allowing them to stay for a minimum of two and a maximum of 88 days.
The package has to include a confirmed round-trip flight, accommodation at a licenced hotel rated four stars or above, and electronic visa application processing.
The minimum package price is 4,000 Saudi Riyal per adult for the first two days with an additional 1,000 Riyal for each extra day. Event tickets, leisure activities, and tourism experiences can also be added optionally.
Gulf News says the package visa is part of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 to expand tourism access in the kingdom. To boost the tourism industry, Saudi is also introducing more flexible entry options, such as visa-on-arrival and stopover transit visas.
