Ex-NSC chairman dies

The former chairman of the National Sports Council, retired Major General Sadikur Rahman Chowdhury, died on Monday night due to old-age complications at the Combined Military Hospital. He was 69.

Dhaka, Nov 4 (bdnews24.com) – The former chairman of the National Sports Council, retired Major General Sadikur Rahman Chowdhury, died on Monday night due to old-age complications at the Combined Military Hospital. He was 69.
Chowdhury, who left behind his wife and two daughters, was laid to rest at the military graveyard on Tuesday after a Namaj-e-Janaza at the Old DOHS Mosque.
Chowdhury, a former footballer of Azad Sporting Club in the late 50s to the early 60s, was also patron of Sonali Otit Club.
He was the NSC chairman twice. He stepped into the post for one month in 1983, and later took the helm from mid-1987 to January 1990.
NSC chairman and army chief General Moeen U Ahmed and NSC officials expressed their condolences and sympathy for the members of the bereaved family.
Sonali Otit Club expressed their deepest sympathy and hoisted the club flag at half mast.
