The Bangladesh Under-19 national football team have returned to Dhaka after their flight was forced to turn back to Kolkata on its first attempt due to inclement weather.

The team, which includes standout players Murshed Ali and Nazmul Huda Faysal, was scheduled to land at Shahjalal International Airport around 5pm on Tuesday following their runner-up finish in the SAFF U-19 Championship in India.

Adverse weather conditions over Dhaka, however, prevented a safe landing, prompting the aircraft to return to Kolkata.

The aircraft eventually restarted its journey and successfully landed in Dhaka. Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) confirmed the matter at 7:52pm.

Bangladesh finished second in the SAFF U-19 Championship held in Arunachal Pradesh, losing 4-3 to hosts India in a dramatic penalty shootout after the final ended 1-1 in regular time on Sunday.
