Latif filed online complaints with 16 police stations in the port city on Thursday, Chittagong Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner Harunur Rashid Hazari said.
But so far only Port Police Station filed a general diary based on the complaint.
Latif alleged Chowdhury and his followers announced at a rally on Feb 15 that he would 'die in an attack'.
Latif, a business leader who got the Awami League ticket in 2008, has been at loggerheads with Chowdhury for years over several issues, including the control of the key port.
Latiff has been in the midst of a controversy after photos of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman were distorted on billboards he put up during Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's recent visit to the city.
Four cases have been filed against Latif for ‘defaming’ the Bangabandhu and ‘outright treason.’
Chowdhury while addressing a rally organised by a citizen body, Nagorik Mancha, on Monday asked Chittagong-11 lawmaker Latif not to move around in the city and warned him of a possible assault.
