The BNP is having a meeting with the National Consensus Committee for a second day to give feedback on the reform proposals drafted by the five reform commissions of the interim government.

The meeting started at 11am on Sunday at the LD Hall of the National Parliament Building.

They had a day-long discussion earlier on Thursday, which was adjourned.

A five-member delegation led by BNP Standing Committee member Salah Uddin Ahmed are taking part in the meeting.

Standing Committee member Nazrul Islam Khan, Advisory Council Member Ismail Zabihullah, and executive committee member Barrister Ruhul Quddus Kazal, and former secretary Abu Md Moniruzzaman Khan are the other members of the delegation.

Prof Ali Reaz, vice chairman of the NCC, is presiding over the meeting with commission members Badiul Alam Mazumdar, retired justices Emdadul Haque, Iftekharruzzaman and special assistant to the chief advisor Monir Haider.

After the interim government took power following the ouster of the Awami League government on Aug 5, it formed 11 reform commissions in two phases.

On Feb 15, the consensus panel held a first meeting with several political parties, including the BNP.

Commission Chairman and Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus presided over the meeting.

The commission sought the opinions of 39 political parties on the recommendations given by the constitution reform committee, judicial reform committee, and anti-corruption committee. As many as 34 parties have subsequently shared their opinions and the NCC is now having separate meetings with them.

It has completed primary discussion with 12 political parties. The BNP is having a meeting for a second day.
