Inqilab Moncho has called for nationwide protest marches on Friday demanding justice for the killing of Sharif Osman bin Hadi.
The announcement came at a press conference at Dhaka University’s Madhur Canteen on Thursday, where Member Secretary Abdullah Al Jaber warned of action if the government fails to ensure a speedy trial.
“We will not accept endless delays like the Sagar-Runi case. If justice is denied, today it is protest marches, tomorrow it may be blockades, then besieging Jamuna, the foreign ministry, and even parliament,” Jaber said.
“Do not consider us helpless; the people are with us,” he added.
He urged citizens across districts, Upazilas, Unions and villages to join Friday’s demonstrations and brief rallies, demanding the arrest and trial of those responsible.
Jaber criticised the chargesheet filed in the case, calling it vague and incomplete, with key planners left out.
He alleged investigators ignored evidence of multiple teams involved in the attack.
He also warned the Election Commission against dismissing Hadi’s death as an isolated incident, saying citizens would oppose the commission itself if it failed to act responsibly.
Hadi, known for his activism during the July Uprising and the anti-Awami League campaign, had announced his candidacy as an independent in Dhaka-8 for the national election.
He was shot on Dec 12 in Bijoynagar while campaigning and later died in Singapore on Dec 18 after treatment in Dhaka.
Following the attack, Inqilab Moncho filed an attempted murder case, later upgraded to homicide under Section 302, with the investigation handed to Detective Branch police.
