Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has urged women lawmakers to prepare thoroughly so they can play an effective role in parliament, while exercising caution and responsibility in their speeches in the House.
He also advised them to strengthen engagement with people in their constituencies.
The guidance came during a meeting at the Secretariat on Monday afternoon with newly elected MPs from the Bangladesh Nationalist Party’s (BNP) reserved women’s seats.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, Tarique encouraged the female lawmakers to continue developing their legislative skills and parliamentary knowledge."To develop yourselves as truly skilled and competent members of parliament, you must be thoroughly enriched with accurate data and information. Moreover, you must possess a crystal-clear understanding and grasp of the Rules of Procedure of the parliament," he said.

Held at the Public Administration Conference Room of the Cabinet Division within the Secretariat, the meeting served as an open platform where the lawmakers shared their insights and experiences.
The sweeping discussions touched upon the operational strategies of parliamentarians, the prevailing political landscape, and the robust implementation of the government’s core electoral pledges.
Out of the 36 female MPs in attendance, 17 formally addressed the floor to express their viewpoints.
During the meeting, the prime minister also instructed MPs to remain alert so that no one could mislead people by misinterpreting religion.
Reflecting a deep commitment to grassroots governance, the head of government also instructed the female MPs to strengthen public engagement in their own areas.
