In a joint statement, bdnews24.com, Bangladesh’s largest news publisher, and the New York Times said that the first issue of the annual publication is slated to hit the stands in February 2016.
It will contain interviews, reviews, articles, and special features by bdnews24.com journalists and prominent contributors commissioned by The New York Times News Service and Syndicate, the licencing and syndication arm of The New York Times.
“Bangladesh’s top news-makers will be featured in exclusive multimedia interviews – both online and in print,” the statement said.
“bdnews24.com is the first publication to do a multimedia launch of Turning Points in Asia,” it said.
The production of a printed magazine will be a first for Bangladesh's first internet-only newsgathering enterprise.
“This is an exciting initiative that we are thrilled to offer our readers,” said bdnews24.com Editor-in-Chief and Publisher Toufique Imrose Khalidi in the statement.
Turning Points is the original year-ahead licenced magazine published across 24 countries in 12 languages, exploring what critical moments from the year gone by might mean for the year ahead.
It features content from The New York Times News Service and Syndicate and also globally recognised voices who share their unique perspectives on the future by taking a look at the recent past.
bdnews24.com has continued to lead the way with new media products since it became a 24/7 news publisher giving free access to readers nine years ago.
Its offerings include a range of mobile phone-based news services that attract hundreds of thousands of subscribers in a country with a very low newspaper circulation base.
bdnews24.com is considered the most trusted news source from Bangladesh and is consulted worldwide, with page views reaching 100 million and unique visits touching 7.5 million.
