Bangladesh has recorded two more dengue deaths over the past 24 hours, while 306 new patients have been admitted to hospitals with the mosquito-borne disease.
The latest figures, published in the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) daily bulletin on Thursday, cover the period from 8am on Wednesday to the following 24 hours.
The latest deaths have raised this year's dengue death toll to 32. Of them, 14 have been reported in July alone.
Among the newly admitted patients, 28 were hospitalised in facilities under the Dhaka North City Corporation area and 41 in hospitals under the Dhaka South City Corporation area.
Another 26 patients were admitted to hospitals outside the two city corporation areas in Dhaka.
Outside the capital, Chattogram Division recorded the highest number of admissions with 66 patients, followed by Barishal with 58, Khulna with 38, Rangpur with 23, Mymensingh with 13 and Rajshahi with 13.
During the same period, 272 dengue patients recovered and were discharged from hospitals.
According to the DGHS, Bangladesh has recorded a total of 9,676 hospital admissions for dengue since Jan 1 this year.
Of them, 8,732 patients have recovered and returned home after treatment.
The health authorities have maintained nationwide records of dengue-related hospital admissions and deaths since 2000.
The country's worst dengue outbreak occurred in 2023, when 321,179 patients were admitted to hospitals with the disease.
That year also recorded the highest number of dengue-related deaths, with 1,705 fatalities.
Although last year's outbreak was less severe than the 2023 epidemic, dengue still claimed more than 400 lives, while around 102,000 infections were officially recorded across the country.
Health authorities continue to monitor the situation as dengue cases typically rise during the monsoon season, when conditions favour the breeding of Aedes mosquitoes.
