Shiba Shanu has been elected president of the Bangladesh Film Artiste Association for the 2026-2028 term, with Joy Chowdhury winning the general secretary's post.
Members of the election steering committee signed off on the results at the Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) early on Saturday and formally announced the winners.
According to the results, 480 of the association's 573 voters cast their ballots, of which 416 were declared valid and 64 rejected in the final count.
Shiba won the presidency with 243 votes, beating rival fighter-turned-producer Arman Khan, who bagged 143 votes.
Joy clinched the general secretary's post with 237 votes, edging out actress Rumana Islam Mukti, who received 179 votes.
DA Tayeb and Ilias Kobra won the two vice-president seats, bagging 260 and 216 votes respectively.
Actresses Rojina and Nuton, also in the running for the posts, received 152 and 204 votes.
Among other key posts on the editorial panel, Subrata Barua won the joint general secretary's seat with 266 votes, defeating Rina Khan.
Sony Rahman was elected organising secretary with 263 votes against rival Chunnu's 183.
MA Parvez Chowdhury Abir won the international affairs secretary post by a wide margin, polling 272 votes to opponent Poly's 144.
Jacky Alamgir was elected office and publicity secretary with 221 votes, while Maruf Akib won the culture and sports secretary post with 226 votes.
Kamruzzaman Kamal was elected treasurer with 221 votes, narrowly ahead of closest rival Jadu Azad, who got 197 votes.
The association's 11 executive council seats saw 27 candidates in the running.
Actor Kayes Arju topped the list with 324 votes to win a seat, while Ali Raj, Nasrin, Jasmine Akhter, Sushanta, Shipon Mitra, Shamim Khan (Chikon Ali), Raka, Shirin Shila, Kabila and Farhad won the remaining 10 seats.
Voting in the association's biennial election began at 9:30am on Friday and ran until 6pm.
Two panels contested in this year's election.
Kibria Lipu, Khorshed Alam Khosru and BH Nishan served as election commissioners this year.
Independent candidates in the race included Swapna Kashem, Anna Kamrunnahar, Tahmina Hossain Baby, Hossain Ara Riya, Palash Khan and Yousuf Khan.
