Nahid Rana’s first five-wicket haul in ODIs has helped Bangladesh dominate Pakistan, but the fast bowler remained characteristically composed off the field.
Rana’s spell was decisive at the Sher-e-Bangla Cricket Stadium on Wednesday.
In 7 overs, he claimed a wicket in each of his first 5 overs, combining pace and bounce to dismantle Pakistan’s top order.
“Feeling normal… I’m just a normal person,” he said after the match, downplaying the achievement.
His 5 for 24 set the tone for Bangladesh’s 115-run chase, making it one of the country’s finest ODI bowling performances.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Taskin Ahmed, and Mustafizur Rahman provided crucial support to wrap up the innings.
At the post-match press conference, Rana credited his teammates and coaches for his success.
He spoke of guidance from the senior pacers on reading the wicket and praised bowling coach Shaun Tait for mentoring the team.
“He’s outstanding as a coach and a friend. He guides us, inspires us, and lets us execute on the field,” Rana said.
Though occasionally referred to as “Chapai Express”, Rana shows no desire for nicknames or celebrity status.
His focus is on consistency, long-term performance, and helping Bangladesh succeed, letting his bowling do the talking.
